Bringing Belonging and positive change is our thing.
Diverse voices are a critical component of creativity. Janice Torres knows this truth well, and she’s built a thriving communications and social impact consulting business upon it.
Torres launched The Brand Phoenix in 2014. While she says she’s never wanted a large agency, that doesn’t mean her impact is small. The New York City-based agency has worked with industry giants like Lexus, Jack Daniels and Proctor & Gamble, as well as mission-driven organizations like Hip Hop Public Health and the International Salsa Museum.
She prides herself on understanding the cultural currents that dictate trends, and because she is passionate about supporting small businesses, uplifting diverse voices, and activating strategic partnerships for deserving causes, social good is an essential pillar of her work.

ACCESSIBILITY
The most dominant minority group in the world is persons with disabilities. Building partnerships is critical to incorporating individuals with disabilities into diversity goals and several resources are available to help Brands in their efforts, including spending time with the Mayor’s Office of Persons of Disability, where I received my training to support my work with the New York Taxi and Limousine Commission’s Citywide Accessible Dispatch Program in 2019-2020.
Taxi Limousine Commission’s Citywide Accessible Dispatch Program, operated by Medical Transportation Management, Inc. (MTM), provides wheelchair-accessible yellow and green taxi services.
There I wrote company blogs about employees, customers, and participating vendors, as well as social media copy, increasing X (Twitter) followership by 200% within the first three months raising visiblity for the program in 2019-2020.
